I'm going to go ahead and say that the Kria version is better than the R4 version. I only say this (i dont have the r4 one) because of the shots posted on this forum. some of the shots are really dark in the r4 one like when dutt shows them the hidden cop or the mexican standoff in the end. the new kria one has an option of subs or not (the subs vary from different languages). it offers two choices for sound. im gonna say its progressive...(someone check that)...and thats it. like i said before the extras are by far the only dissapointing factor to me.

What are you smoking man  :?:

Progressive ka naam hi suna hai miyan ya kabhi dekha bhi hai mere bhaii  :?:

OK, so, the T-Series version looks just horrible (dark, murky, soft, etc.). It's the version I saw; thus, I may add, the audio is just atrociously weak. The Region-4 version doesn't look bad, but, come on: it's far from stellar. This new "2-disc set," however, doesn't seem all that bad. Let's face it, as Indian-film watchers, we all must bear with horrendous DVDs, and (compared with much of the utter trash that's out there) this new "Kaante" DVD seems OK. My major complaints, looking at the captures (thanks, urbanlegend, by the way, for posting them), is that the image seems too dark. Could anyone post on the sound quality? Is there any actual difference between the "stereo" option and the "surround" one? Thanks, guys.

Easy now. First of all, anamorphic doesn't matter to me, as I don't have a 16:9 television. Yes, I like when films are released on home video in their original aspect ratios. The picture, I admit, is dark, but hey (again), I have seen (and I own) MUCH worse. I guess I'm just glad that something better than T-Series's atrocious version, is finally available.

Is the surround actually 5.1 surround, or is it the type of surround we've seen on so many other DVDs (i.e., same audio through every channel)? Which sounds better to you: the stereo track, or the surround one?

Do the songs have subtitles as well? I'm assuming they do since the movie has subtitles in so many different languages..

songs indeed have subtitles but something i noticed while watching Kria's version was some "extra" scenes. NOTE: these arent really extra scenes...just scenes left out in the T-Series version??? theres the scene where we hear the dialouges we heard in the beginning when Lucky Ali is describing the characters again. Theres the scene when AB tells them to get guns...instead of showing the scene where they show AB guns it goes straight to the roof shootout. And finally the scene where Suniel Shetty goes to tell Mailaka Arora Khan to wait for him at the airport. When he leaves theres a scene where Dutt is talking to security outside (Quite a nice scene). If there are any more scenes i have missed please tell me. Does the R4 version cut any out? I have yet to buy it.

All I want to know is whether the sound is real 5.1 and if it is any good.

But I thought the Australian region DVD was not 5.1 surround. Personally I have no interest in the DVD if it is not real & decent quality 5.1 sound.

looks like Kria has same length as R4 version, it has all 'extra' scenes you described. I think one u missed was the bank robbery where sanjay dutt kicks the wrong glass door in style, and kumar gaurav questions him with his hands.

How does Kria deal with the intermission part?
T-series displays message 'AND THEN...' & shows their exit of the bank again, where as R4 just cuts to the second bank exit after intermission.
