How's the audio on the Eros UK/US DVD?
It appears that India EROS dvd is a different transfer or is at least very cropped compared to the US DVD.

Really? Could you post some comparison shots? As far as I know, Eros have never released different versions of any of their DVDs before. The audio on the UK/US DVD is just as you described as well.

The menus are different!
So is the framing -- UK/US is 2.30:1 with more info on left and right side but India is 2.1:0 with more info on top and bottom, and some cropping on left and right.
Note that because of the more vertical height of India dvd, the ratio become even more small - 2.1:1 but does not necessarily mean too much loss of info...
It's difficult to say which is more closer to theatrical aspect ratio.

Also, the India dvd have three extras:
1. Amitabh-tabu interview in Hindi
2. Amitabh-tabu interview in English
3. Director's interview

Let me post some shots.

Note the colour tones are different in the two transfers -- Amitabh's first scene with the small girl (cancer patient) and her father -- On India Eros dvd, this is very dark (night scene?) while on the US/UK Eros dvd, this is bright - like the sun is shining... Isn't the India one the more natural?

Many thanks, NewDeep. Could you tell us the runtime of this DVD please?

Let's compare the two in more detail -- this is a very interesting incident -- two separate transfers from Eros! Hmmm.

Is it possible that just like they appear to have done on Cheeni Kum, Eros and T-Series have been "opening up the matte" on top and bottom to reveal more info so that it fills out TV screens but also because of the now increased height, results in an AR that is less than 2.35 and close to 2.2?

Meaning they might not really be cropping that much...

Actually, that's exactly how I remember the film looking in theatres - so Eros got that right this time. The UK/US DVD is too bright.

exactly my thoughts -- India Eros is closer to reality while UK/US Eros appears to be sexed up / tampered.

Runtime on India EROS dvd is 2:14:12 -- what's it on the US/UK Eros?

Guys, my laptop is just not right for taking screenshots. I'll take some shots on my desktop too...

See this... from dvdtimes...
Quote:
Originally the film sported a blue, moody hue thanks to the use of various darkening filters, which someone evidentially forgot to apply here (UK DVD) as the picture is consistently bright – even during scenes that are meant to be taking place at night!
