In fact, so many movies shot in 4x3 were forced into cropped widescreen for theatres when the widescreen trend started. Take Zanjeer for example. Only the Reliance Big DVD has it it 4x3. All others are 1.85:1 and it was shown in 1.85:1 in many theatres in India.

Really? I can't recall watching even a single 4x3 movie that was cropped and shown in 1.85:1 in the theaters. All widescreen theaters simply screened the 4x3 movies with pillar boxing. As for when Zanjeer was released, back then the vast majority of the theaters had 4x3 screens. Could you please provide a list of theaters which screened Zanjeer in 1.85:1.

Some sources say that MEA color is being considered for a 3D re-re-release?? They said that it shall happen in 2014, however I'm not 100% sure if it's gonna happen.

IF that happens, I'm completely sure that 3D blurays of that version will have a cropped 1.78/1.85 aspect ratio (Though i know that home video distributors will not do that, that's why there's a BIG if in my question)

I watched it on Zee Classic channel and they cropped it to 2.20:1
It was pretty annoying and I couldn't watch it that way.

Hope to see it on Blu Ray in its OAR.
