There's a Neptune DVD out @ IW for $9.99. Only other Neptune stuff I've seen is Naseeb VCD - which is very average quality even for a VCD.

...I didn't realise this till my uncle bought one of his fav American films 'Breaking Away' on VHS. He lent it to me and when I saw it it resembled JJWS, in fact it was better. I never knew this and was disspointed with the fact that all of these years I considered JJWS to be one of Indian cinema's ture gems...alas I was wrong after seeing Breaking Away.

I knew it was a copy when I saw it for the first time in 1992 in India. Also, it is a pity because "Breaking Away" is a much superior film. But hey, how many Bollywood films are original? If they don't copy the same "rehashed themes" from themselves, there is always good ole Hollywood to rely on. Most of the people only see Bollywood films to have a good time and be "entertained" for 3+ hours (there is nothing wrong with that), and therefore ideas like plot originality are totally secondary.

It seems now that Mansoor Khan only makes most films based on Hollywood rip offs;
Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak = Romeo & Juliet
Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar = Breaking Away
Akele Hum Akele Tum = Kramer vs. Kramer
Josh = West Sides Stories

Where's the originality Mansoor Khan?

I knew JJWS was remade from "breaking away" in english. It does not matter if the film is remade into Hindi cause JJWS was well made. Mansoor Khan is one of the best directors India has seen. Until today I think JJWS and QSQT are some of my favourite films. He has always declared that he will continue to make movies from Hollywood original with a few changes. Anyway if there was no MK there would be no Pehla Nasha or Farah Khan. If any of you are a fan of MK you will understand that it is not the story in his films but rather the performance of the actors, technical quality and even music that has shone. Even Lagaan had some scenes inspired from JJWS, the Gauri and Bhuvan scene where she tells him in the night that she will always be by his side no matter what. Is'nt that so reminiscent of the scene before pehla nasha?

I have the JJWS Neptune version. When I watched it I didn't think it was that bad, but compared to the other qaulity DVD's it was uncomparable. Still, it's a good movie so I can overlook that. Besides, a lot of the poor quality has to do with the technology that was used; prolly half the reason it can't compare to a new, quality DVD is because the camerawork and all is tons better now then it was. So, it might not all be because of bad DVD quality.

Faisal Khan acted in bit parts in Mansoor Khan's earlier movies - he was one of the gundas who try to do ched-chaad with Juhi in Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak

There is no way that someone who makes only copied films can be called one of India's best directorys. Not IMO anyway. You could call be a good director. but calling him one of India's best when he makes all movies based on hollywood movies is stretching it quite a bit

I am sure we can differentiate between one scene being similar and the theme of the movie being copied

Aamir's wife can be spotted in QSQT during Papa Kehte Hain. Jatin Lalit are playing in a band in JJWS. Aamir's real life college friends can be spotted in Papa Kehte hain wearing masks, they call themselves "time pass gang".
