It's not a question of saving a buck or two. Actually pirate copies may even be cheaper.
But in buying pirate, you don't know what you are buying. Is it a copy or is it an exact code transfer. If it's a copy, how good is the copy?? How good is the disc media??
Burning/ backing up your own copy, if you know the trick, you can get an exact code transfer from an original that you liked(not a copy from whatever avail). Moreover, recordable DVD media is Single layer and you know what quality media you purchased.
