You're in luck. Pyramid has a fine DVD of 'Geetanjali' (Tamil version) on sale with 5.1 audio AND English subtitles!

Heres the link :

http://nehaflix.com/itthirtamdvd.html

Thanks much for the link...but wasnt there someone (several) that had a problem with Nehaflix' service ? I remember a thread not too long ago.....in any case, shall first 'source' the DVD locally to check out the subtitles (thanks indeed for pointing out the manufacturer, but is there another non-subtitled version or was that also Pyramid?).....

I think Varusham 16 is not a Mani Ratnam directed film instead a Fazil directed one.
Indra is about a village girl getting involvedin politics and neighbouring village problems after her father gets killed. It stars Arvind Swamy and Naseer (1st class actor) and was directed by Suhasini ManiRatnam.
The film with teh little girl by MR you are talking is Anjali.
If I can suggest everybody should watch Nayagan which is kind of the Indian Godfather.

Surya - Dream Role

By Moviebuzz

The rising star Surya has staged a coup. He has been chosen by the avant-garde director of Tamil cinema, Mani Ratnam to be the hero of his next film titled Ayudha Ezhuthu.

More than half the industry was hankering after this role, but Mani has finally zeroed in on Surya and will start work for the film in August. Surya's relationship with Mani dates back to the days when he was chosen to replace Ajit in Vassant directed Nerukku Ner, which was produced by Madras Talkies.

Ayudha Ezhuthu is rumoured to be a racy thriller that will also feature two other heroes and three girls, one of them would be Trisha Krishnan. The others in the cast and the technicians will be finalised soon, as the shooting will commence from July end.

For Surya,It is like a dream-come-true as he is all excited about working in a Mani Ratnam film. But Madras Talkies is as usual very secretive about the film and refused to divulge any further information.
----------------

Whatever happened to Aalayam? Did Mani Ratnam own that company like he does Madras Talkies or was that a company that produced his film until he started producing them himself?

Nayagan..? Is that Nayakan the south indian film starring Kamal Haasan? That was a good film but maybe too serious for the bollywood masses. A Bollywood version was remade as Dayavan, with Vinod Khanna in the lead role.

As for the Godfather, that was remade as Aatank Hi Aatank with Aamir Khan as 'the indian' Michael Corleone! It was weird to say the least!
