Madhumati looks - and sounds much better than Devdas. If this is the restored version then it is quite disappointing. Anyhow - I can see that the version of Madhumati that is uploaded is a definite improvement from the DVDs that I have seen ... for Devdas I don't see any improvement (although I have been watching my VHS version of it - not really the DVDs). The Devdas versions that are on Youtube have horrible sound processing applied that makes the audio sound hollow and over processed. Neither look restored to me now I have had a chance to look at them in greater detail.

Yes. But whatever, this "Devdas" appears much better than the Shemaroo/YRF junk which were nothing but a filthy and dirty transfer. This one appears much clearer. Shakes are still visible, but not distracting. Who knows the new DVD release of the restored version might be much better!? Let's just hope that I am not wrong.
