Even though the screenshots are not full size, the pixellation looks pretty bad. I've only seen one or two VCDs, and that too on a computer monitor at a good distance away from the screen. Is this what a lot of VCDs look like? How can you stand it? :hmm:

That's neat for a VCD! But still not as good as some official Hollywood VCDs. Khiladi, you don't neat a 'capture card' to capture picture from VCDs. You can copy the screenshot (bmp) to clipboard by pressing the print screen key - and then edit the picture in a software of your choice.

I wish you guys could see the official DVD of Kaante released by T-Series here in India. Believe me this VCD seems like a masterpiece compared to the absolutely crap DVD put out by this same company. Therefore keeping in mind the quality of their DVD I must say this VCD sure looks VERY good.

I actually got this VCD from India (from ultraindia.com) - the main reason I got it is because I haven't seen the film yet. I did want to get the T Series DVD (which was Rs 300 as opposed to RS 200 for the VCD), but they didn't stock it.

I've got to say, I was expecting a lot lot worse! When I saw the print, I assumed they used the same print for VCD and DVD - although from what you're saying Sanjay, it looks like they used something different.

Believe me you are lucky that they did not have the DVD in stock because this VCD looks like a masterpiece compared to the absolutely crap DVD which is not even presented letterboxed.

That is one of the low points of shopping with them......I bought 4 VCDs and 1 DVD, and I got charged Rs 1200 shipping to the UK. I went ahead cos the VCDs still come out reasonably cheap - abt £4 each.

One very bad point about this VCD which I only realised whilst skipping through some of the scenes (I still havent seen the movie yet!!) is that there are ads throughout - approximately every 20 mins!!

Also, what is the total length of the movie? This version is approx 2hours 30mins including ads - is it cut?

Khiladi, are you sure you haven't got a SVCD, which would give a much better quality of picture, depending on the original source of course? I encode a lot of avi files ripped from dvds in SVCD format. But I have to say the VCD images shown are pretty good, its down to the fact that the source is very good, most crap VCDs have been encoded by people who don't know what they're doing or who use crap sources like cams.

VJmajic, that's the inside cover of VCD 3 if I remember rightly. The outside cover (it comes in a little box) is different.

And I agree congress, it's sad that I'm resorting to VCDs now.....but I don't wanna waste any more money on crap DVDs. At least with VCDs, they're cheap, and I don't expect anything.
