I just saw this film on DVD last night, and the film is incredibly BAD. There was no REAL point to the weak story. I expected alot more coming from a Ram Gopal Verma production. The all-round acting was terrible, which should also hint on Rajat Mukherjee's poor direction.

You think so? I thought the acting was the only thing that
made it watchable, and some good sound effects. The three
leads are all good actors, but the material goes nowhere.

I think it is an incredibly under-rated film. The acting is better than most Indian films. As for the screenplay and direction, it was excellent (by Indian standards). If we can even stand to watch films by Rakesh Roshan, Indra Kumar, Raj Kanwar, J.P. Dutta, Yash Chopra, David Dhawan (basically all our 'old school' 'old fogeys'), then we are hardly in position to comment on people who are doing something to develop Indian cinema.

Nobody could've said it better, and I agree with you 100%.
Road is one of my favourites of 2002, and it was hard to have favourites when the year was so horrible.
