I would hardly call urban people "shallow". The assumption of hillbillys being backwards is correct. Its not to say its wrong, but compared to a technologically based urban life, hillybillys (who live in rural areas, county sides, moutains, away from civilization, or smalltowns) arent people who go forward. They are more of people preserving the old way of life, farming and small town businesses.

I believe Amish people are pretty different than hillbillys, from what I understand its a religion against technology and modern day advances. They stress separation from the world, basically just want to be isolated and want nothing to do with outsiders or outside influences.

I was in India a few years back when T-Series released there first 3 DVDs ever sold and made in India. Which were Pyar Kiya To Derna Kya, Aashique & Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahie. I ended up buying all three titles for Rs. 500 each. They must have been R0 DVDs, since they played on my Sony DVD Player once I brang them to Canada.
