i seriously cannot see why this movie is so hyped up... and arsh what will be the benefit of seeing a movie in DTS.. i dont think any bollywood movie has ever utilised the sound format to its full potential yet... and i very much doubt Devdas will... The original was slit your wrist boring... and i assume this will be too.. Give me Kaante any day!! Talking about kaante.. looks as though it will be delayed.. Damn, i`ll be doing Umraah then... ???

Faddy, the reason I am so excited by this movie is to see the choreography of the dances. The music is already on the classical side and I am expecting the dances to be as well. Both Nimbuda and Dhol Baje had excellent choreography as far as film dances go. I had not heard HDDCS music before going to see this movie in the theater and was completely wowed by it. I have not seen Khamoshi nor heard its music so I don't know what I am missing there. But the promos of Devdas look very promising.

I hope Kaante will be better than Reservoir Dogs, to which it is going to be similar. I finally saw RD, and it was nothing but blood and the f-word. I have no problem with the f-word, but when it replaces good dialogue, then it is a problem. The characters really didn't have distinct personalities and I didn't care whether the characters died or lived.

It seems that SLB chooses great cinematographers for his flicks. It was Anil Mehta(I think) for HDDCS. Now it's Binod Pradhan for DEVDAS, one of my favorites. Pradhan shot all of Vidhu Vinod Chopra's films including MISSION:KASHMIR, which was excellent camerawork as we all know.

So the look of the movie is gonna be great.

Raj

I have a news to share with you all. For the first time in the history of Bollywood, an Indian movie will take over an entire American mutiplex and play at all its screen (13 screen in total) non-stop. Not only will it play at all the thirteen screen but it will play around the clock (i.e. 24 hours non-stop).
Yes my fellow bollywood fans, "Devdas" will be realsed in all thirteen (13) screens at Cineplaza in North Bergan, New Jersey. From 6:00 PM Friday, July 12, 2002 till 10:00 PM Sunday, July 14, 2002 it will start every hour on the hour and play around the clock (all 24 hours of the day). After sunday it will go back to the normal schedule.
By the way, Cineplaza is the best place to see Indian movies in Northern New Jersey. Ample parking is always avialable.

If Lagaan winning an Oscar nomination can be considered as a feather in our cap in the domain of "saraswati", then Devdas taking over an entire cinplex and playing non-stop around the clock can also be considered as a feather in our cap in the domain of "laxmi". I hope all people of Indo/Pak backgound, not only in the USA, but around the world are happy about this achievement.

Thank you Bharat Shah. Thank Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Thank you SRK for making Indian (& Pakistanis) proud.

got this from another forum..
