Its such an insult to all the talents in the movie that YR has to do that to their films. At the prices that they charge for their dvds, they have to do so much better than that.

Fortunately, I've only bought 2 YRF. 'Noorie' was my first purchase and it is very good. From that I assumed, very wrongly, that all YRF would be of good quality and so I went ahead and purchased 'Silsila'. That was a great disappointment. The video quality is like VHS. Colors bleeding all over the place and the dvd has this 'screen door' effect.

From that one experience, I've decided to not purchase any dvds from YRF. Hopefully more people will also do this. I've told all my friends to avoid purchasing YR dvds and they are doing so.

YR should be killed or murdered for peace in everyone's mind.

and after his death, he should be hanged by justice (302).

Hi Guys! Should I go for the CHANDNI DVD from YRF or from Eros/B4U?

YRF does so well with the packaging! It really does fool the buyer....I guess he is also releasing K3G also in a few weeks.....

Hi,
i'm new here but i've read some threads in the forum for quite some time.
I just wanted to warn everyone not to buy the YR "Forever Butchered Classic":
MR. & MRS. 55.
This is one of the worst DVD's that i have seen yet, i have seen a lot having worked in a speciality videostore in Berlin, Germany.
The movie is transfered with totally messed up gamma, so everything is is dark, the actors look like a group of africans lost in a hindi film and most of the time it is impossible to tell the moving actors from the background.
Also, the whole film is presented as if looking throu a fisheye lense, the center is somehow more sharp and focussed then the borders.
Those stupid people at YR nevertheless put the "IN SEARCH FOR GURU DUTT" Doku on the Disk witch features scenes from the film.
Those Parts look way better than anything in the main feature, even though they seem to be taken from an analog videosource (maybe Beta/U-Matik).
The quality of the subtitles is also worlds apart from YR's own in the main feature.

SO BE AWARE !!! THIS DISK LOOKS WORSE THAN A THIRD-COPY ON VHS!!! HANDS OFF!!!

Has anyone in this forum seen the EROS Disk od this title - is it any better ?

Dhool ka Phool, add another oldie classic to the list of YRF DVD's to be avoided. A would have been good DVD totally ruined by a so so bad soundtrack,so the list keeps on growing.

I have this one from EROS/DEI which is a film mode dvd and
ok quality. I don't know about YRF but I believe EROS/DEI
dvd's are always better than YRF dvd's.

RECENTLY RENTED GUMRAH RELEASED BY YRF,I MUST SAY IT'S QUALITY WASN'T THAT BAD AND MOVIE IT SELF WAS RATHER WELL MADE WITH NOT YOUR REGULAR SONG AND DANCE MARATHON BUT WITH A SOLID STORY,SOME REALLY GOOD PERFORMANCES BY THE LEAD STARS AND SOME REALLY GOOD TUNES. I USUALLY HAVE A TOUGH TIME SITTING THRU MANY OLDIES BUT THIS ONE WAS AN EXCEPTION. UNFORTUNATELY MANY YRF RELEASES INCLUDING DDLJ HAVE BEEN A BIG LETDOWN.

Personally I have encountered only two decent DVD's of oldies released by YRF one being Gumrah and the other Raj Kapoor's Jis desh main ganga behti hai. For the prices YRF charges leaves a lot to be desired in their quality of DVD's. Like the saying oonchi dukan pheeka pakwan.

There is excuse for such crappy quality from them as Yash being a producer/director himself has ability to obtain & provide decent transfers to be used for their DVD's. As I have stated in my other posts many movies will only survive in this medium since negatives of many movies are left to deteriorate and have no chance for restoration.

Companies like Eros,DEI are not are not in the field of creating art but YRF have lot more on their shoulders. So far they have totally disrespected vision's of Bimal Roy,Raj kapoor and others and even their own creations by releasing such crappy DVD's. Current quality of Indian DVD's are also an insult to the intelligence of consumers as YRF,EROS,DEI,Videosound and other continue to throw bones at us. Shame on them,no rest until we still some improvement.
