Very enjoyable movie indeed. I bought my copy last year; the film gives you laughs every time you see it. One of the best comedies of the 90s, if not the best. Also an interesting change by RKS who usually makes dramas. If you yearn for a good comedy, and the Govinda-DD brand doesn't do it for you, you should enjoy this one.

here's a film review...................

Touted at the time of its release as the Indian version of the Archie comic books, it is similar only in the number of lead characters and that is where it stops, but the spirit endures.

Raj Kumar Santoshi's third release after Ghayal and Damini this was a complete deviation from the earlier action and drama genre he was familiar with. Displaying incredible comic sense, the entire caper is mad, inane and fun all at the same time. Poking fun at filmdom at various points in the movie, it is the original nonsensical laugh riot followed recently by the likes of Hera Pheri. Those familiar with Hindi movies will identify the various digs on display. They are simply too numerous to even begin noting.

Though the production values suffer at various times and the songs seem to have been inserted just so as to fit into the commercial requirements, they tend to actually provide a break from the intense bouts of laughing fits that the viewer is so often subjected to.

It is but obvious that the cast was having a ball when filming as is apparent from the onscreen chemistry between each one of them. Of the lot Aamir Khan clearly stands out as he has the best written role. Salman Khan though manages to hold his own as the bumbling other lead and on second or third viewing one begins to appreciate his contribution. This critic for one has found a new gag in every single viewing which goes to say volumes about the scripting work of Raj Kumar Santoshi. Paresh Rawal chips in with an incredible role. What an actor! Shakti Kapoor, Viju Khote and Shehzad Khan contribute with smaller yet meaty supporting roles. The female leads of Raveena Tandon and Karisma Kapoor are only incidental presences not really contributing too much to the goings on.

Whether this entire affair was a fluke for Santoshi or not only time will tell but it is true that till date the director has not been able to replicate what he did in this movie.

Absolutely recommended watching with like minded friends who dont mind some illogical mirth and laughter.

it is the funniest hindi movie i have ever seen..i usually hate david dhawan type movies since it is stupid funny..but andaz apna apna is one stupid funny by santhosi you wouldn't want to miss...aamir khan totally steals the show along with the 'bad' guys..salman is at his very worst (or should i say 'normal' self)

my younger brother (22) who isn't in hindi movies, mostly cause he doesn't understand hindi fluently, and he finds all of them boring. but this one is exceptional!, everytime i would play this movie, he would come next to me, and watch the entire movie for the hundredth time.

this is the part, where he finds it hillarious, and i got the joke last.

actually it is the above dvd screenshot where salman acts the absolute worst...right there you can see the subtle dignified look of aamir vs the monkey look of salman...in fact, that is just one thing...salman's laugh in the same shot is arguably the worst in the history of indian cinema..I have truly never witnessed a more fake, absolutely non-human like laughter ever...in my opinion, you would be witnessing a historic shot when u see that scene, as nobody can (and hopefully won't) laugh or act like that...kudos to salman for revealing his arsenal of comic stunts.. :p

Funniest scene imo was when Aamir and Salman arrive with the money to rescue Paresh. The evil Paresh getting mad because they didn't bring enough and then trying to fit on the bike was hilarious.
