devdas is being made in bengali..the film starrs
devdas-abhishek bachchan
paro-ranee mukherjee
chandramukhi-debashree roy
chunnilal-chiranjeet

it is being directed by sce director rituparno (19 april,dahan,bariwali,utsav) ghosh.

apparently the role of Paro was first offered to Kajol :happy: ...but she turned it down.. :cry:

Isn't Debashree Roy kind of old to play Chandramukhi? Unless she is it not the same Debashree Roy from "36 Chowrangee Lane".

Where did you get this news from? Sounds kinda strange, seeing as a Bengali version of Devdas has already been released, starring Prasenjeet, Arpita Pal, Indrani Haldar, and Tapas Pal. The casting also seems quite strange - AB jr has already done a special appearance in a Bengali film, Desh (http://www.deshmovie.com), but Debashree Roy is actually Rani Mukherjee's maternal aunt!! And she is too old!!! Chiranjeet is also from the same generation!!!

Please tell us your source!!!
