Fantastic performance. The result fully deserved. Rio Ferdinand was as cool as ever. My man of the match by far. Come on England!

Mills, Butt, Ferdinand and Cole. I couldn't seperate them, all put in a top class display. Last 25 minutes were a bit nervy. When Sven brought off Owen I thought it was another Taylor/Lineker situation, but who am I to question the boss, it worked! Nice one Sven.

Nicky Butt was amazing, coming back from injury he was outstanding, as was Trevor Sinclair when he came on. Now lets get a result against Nigeria and really progress in this World Cup!

Michael Owen was fantastic. He set up the penalty and forced Argentina to be aware defensively. Without Owen up front the pressure on our back four may have been too much.

Well done England,y ou did us and yourselves proud! Beckham and Owen were brilliant, keep it up lads.

I thought Danny Mills was outstanding. He messed up against Sweden but more than made amends, especially in the last 20 minutes. Rio Ferdinand wasn't bad either!

Nicky Butt has finally proved that he is a world-class player. I don't even support Man Utd but would now put him in any team I was picking. While he always looked good playing like he did in a game that couldn't have been bigger has firmly put him on the map. With Rio Ferdinand behind him we looked very solid through the middle which is why Argentina constantly tried to find space out wide in the final third.

What a game Danny Mills was awesome, Nicky Butt played his heart out, Trevor Sinclair what can you say about him Japan - Home back to Japan he deserves to be on the pitch next game. One last thing... come on lads!

We had 11 heroes on that pitch and they all performed out of their skins. Full credit has to go to Seaman, Ferdinand and Butt as they were a class above the rest. Mills has proven that he is capable of competing at international level and he looked solid. Well done boys and "Come on England!"

The whole team was outstanding. But special praise has to go to the performances by the players that everyone (including me!) has been criticising. The likes of Sinclair, Heskey, Mills and especially Butt, have proved everyone wrong. Bring on Nigeria!
Toby Waltham, Felixstowe
That was one of the best England performances I've seen in years. We looked composed and determined, and Rio shook off the doubters to put in, in my opinion, a man-of-the-match performance. Now let's shut-up the scare mongers and get behind our boys! COME ON ENGLAND!

I think Scholes had a great game and Nicky Butt was outstanding. These kind of games were designed for Butt. Mills had a solid performance considering his blip in the Sweden game. Rio was definitely the man of the match - colossus. Sven's tactics were spot on. Well done England - beware the Nigerians!

Nicky Butt showed typical England resolve, just what we need in a midfield that was shaky against the Swedes. His constant running, perfect timed tackles and inch perfect passing were outstanding. If the team show that sort of spirit for 90 mins every match, we have a great chance against any opposition. It seemed that Sven has brought some of his Lazio traits into the side. Hold onto those 1-0 leads lads!
Darren Lawrence, Bishopsgate, London
I don't care what anyone says, Nicky Butt was most definitely the man of the match today. He put on an excellent display and was more than capable of filling the shoes of Steven Gerrard in the centre of midfield, he battled all day long and at one point seemed to be everywhere. Other stars included Rio Ferdinand and Ashley Cole, although I still feel Danny Mills was a bit suspect on the right. Overall, England were a bit shaky and need to work on keeping the ball a
lot more, but then again... who cares right now?
Chris McQuaid, Kent
Congrats to England. Deserved win over a disappointing Argentinian team. However how you can even think Beckham played well is beyond me. He was the poorest player in red today and is defnitely not fit. Best for me were Scholes and Butt followed by the back four. Well done again
Declan Bannon, Dublin
I thought Rio Ferdinand was amazing. Manchester United need look no further to solve their defensive problems. What with the upsets in Group F England can now look to getting to the quarter-finals at least. Well done boys!
