RAM BALRAM Aspect Ratio

I was under the impression that Ram Balram was a 4:3 OAR movie and hence had not bought its DEI-EROS DVD so far, as it obviously was with an AR of 1.85:1. If the OAR is 4:3 then 1.85:1 means cropping at top and bottom.

Finally, last week I picked up Ram Balram DVD and first thing I checked was if there was any cropping against its old time VHS (4:3) copy.

I was glad to find that the DVD picture had no cropping at the top or at the bottom. It did have extra picture on the sides. (As compared to my VHS 4:3 copy)

Just for info: Ram Balram was originally shot in Cinemascope (anamorphic) on 35 mm film. Therefore the Original Aspect Ratio of the film is 2.35:1

Thanks for the info sanjay. So there is some cropping on the sides as the DVD picture is 1.85:1. But, this DVD version seems to be most complete AR among the available home viewing formats. I did not notice any annoying cropping info from the sides. But again, you don't miss anything till you know what you are missing.

BTW in QSQT there is one suspense scene where you keep guessing why the suspense music in 4:3 VHS picture. In the 2.35:1 DVD, you see the suspense and hear the corelating music as the needed info is on the sides.

Hi guys,

I have just discovered that my DEI Ram Balram DVD has a corrupted file which won't play on any DVD players.
I would be greatful if anyone has the same disc? If so, can you DIRECTLY copy and upload the following file from the disc

VTS_01_5.vob

The other vob files works fine.

Just a word of caution to owners who have this disc...please check and see if your copy is affected too...

If certain vob files don't work then maybe we can make a swap??

i have noticed that some of my DVDs that have corrupted and won't play on DVD players, seem to play just fine on laptops and PCs -- same with you?

Its visa versa with me. My Ram Balram plays fine on my DVD player, but I cannot play it on either my PC or laptop.
However, the disc is still courrupted. Do you have this version? Or is there a better version out there....
