Let's be thankfull for that. And God forbid anyone were to start doing this. Ali, I really hope you are not advocating that DEI or anyone else for that matter should start Panning & Scanning 2.35:1 films to 1.85:1 (more appropriately 1.77:1 = 16:9 widescreen tv ratio). I WANT MY 'OAR' (ORIGINAL ASPECT RATIO) and no tinkering with it is acceptable. You misunderstand me... I wasn’t saying that 2.35:1 films should be pan and scanned to 1.85:1 – I’m always a supporter of OAR. What I was talking about the automatic pan and scan feature of DVDs – some Hollywood ... |

Infact we should ... |

Quote: It will be in a spectacular 2 DVD pack with animated menus (normal and widescreen) on an anamorphic widescreen presentation and 5.1 Dolby Digital soundtrack
Since DDLJ was originally released in the theaters only with Dolby SR sound, will the DVD have a true 5.1 Dolby Digital track or will it be one of them crappy mono in all 5 channels crap? Anyone have any idea? |

... for digital TV. But to go back to non-anamorphic DVDs is just a ridiculous solution for this problem – I don’t see how this would enable DEI to fix this anyway since the problem lies within the telecine process. With that process being the expensive bit DEI are not going to start mastering widescreen films in non-anamorphic format only later to re-do them again at an extra expense – hence we have never seen re-issues of their fixed DVDs. This video squash problem has become a farce. DEI have known about this problem for a very long time. Now even the most incompetent person would ... |

... of Indian cinema, having already crossed the 300 week mark after being launched in 1995) as a possession you'll really love to treasure and that's also one of the reason it's taking us time to put this special DVD together. It will be in a spectacular 2 DVD pack with animated menus (normal and widescreen) on an anamorphic widescreen presentation and 5.1 Dolby Digital soundtrack, with sub-titles in 7 languages (English, Spanish, French, Arabic, Malay, Hebrew & Japanese). It also has never-seen-before "deleted scenes" from the film that never made it to the theatres along with optional commentary ... |

... The following is truly what I saw this past weekend: A friend of mine had invited a few families and was showing off his new DVD player. He played “Mission Bollywood†which has many anamorphic clips. Unanimously everybody (aprox 40 people) preferred watching these anamorphic songs with Widescreen setting in DVD player while using 4:3 TV. Actually, everybody complained of squashed picture when settings were right and nobody noticed or objected to the 15-20% (as DEI anamorphics have squashed picture, the resulting picture with wrong settings has less than 33% stretch) vertical stretch ... |

I'm just wondering, Suryausa once replied to one of my emails saying that most of the older Malayalam DVDs were pan-and-scan. Is this true? Specifically, is Chenkol widescreen, and if it is, how is the quality?
Thanks, Chaver. |

The Century series first started out with a disc called Century Dhamaka Vol.1 which I bought. That was a big mistake, the video for the most part was original widescreen aspect ratio but the was very grainy, dark and dull  the audio is not even worth a mention at all. Then Vol.2 came out, which I bought thinking that the B4U logo is not on it therefore it cannot be all that bad, also maybe ERO$ realised that Vol.1 was bad and fixed Vol.2...No F**KING way! :vangry: It was just a bad as the first round. Don't get it, ... |

Wow! EROS have become the first to release the first ever Indian DVD-18 discs. Intresting...this should venture on to better things in the Indian DVD industry....
Now they have no excuses for producing poor quality discs. and can even do full screen version on side 1 and ananmorphic widescreen (OAR) version on side 2, so all consumers are satisfied. But somehow I feel they might contiune to produce poor quality products. |

Metrodome is releasing a 169m 3s widescreen/subtitle version of the film (from BBFC site). But it is in PAL format so the running time being a little shorter might have been due to the x4 speed up. |
